Fifty-two bloggers showed up to play in the weekly Bodog Poker Blogger Tournament this week, including Josh Arieh with a price on his head.
Josh Arieh didn’t get much of a chance to make any moves in the tournament however, as Abby17 took him out fairly early to collect the $100 bounty.
Abby17 found his chance to take out Arieh when the Team Bodog pro decided to make a move with pocket sevens. Abby17 called him down with A-Q and won the race when an ace hit the river.

Massachusetts to go ahead with gambling study

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has said a $189,000 study on the possible impact of casinos in the commonwealth will still be conducted — even though the state legislature has tabled a bill that would have licensed three casinos in Massachusetts.
The bill, which would have also banned online gambling in Massachusetts, will not come to a vote again until next year.

Spectrum Gaming Group of New Jersey won the state contract late February and has been working on the analysis for the past month. It was expected to complete the analysis 60 to 90 days after winning the contract.

UIGEA hearing to be held in U.S. on Wednesday

The United States House of Representatives will hold a hearing on Wednesday about how the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act should be enforced.
The House Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade and Technology subcommittee will hold the hearing regarding the rules of the UIGEA that have been proposed by the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve Board.
The subcommittee counts a number of UIGEA opponents among its members, according to cardplayer.com:
Online poker developer not worried about proposed Canada ban

GigaMedia Limited, which develops and licenses online poker and casino software, said in a statement that it was not worried about the possibility of a ban of online poker and gambling in Canada that may be on the way. U.S.-Antigua online gambling impasse near end?

The United States is planning to propose a settlement that would end a bitter trade dispute regarding online gambling between the U.S. and Antigua and Barbuda.
The settlement, which should be offered by the end of the month, could end five years of acrimony and legal wrangling on an international scale.

According to Mark Mendel, Antigua and Barbuda’s attorney in its World Trade Organisation (WTO) dispute, the US is scheduled to put forward a proposal for the settlement of both aspects of the trade dispute by next Monday. Mendel indicated that Antigua and Barbuda is adopting a wait and see approach to the proposal.

The fact it was Easter Sunday didn’t keep people away from the virtual tables on PokerStars.com.
PokerStars pro Hevad Khan benefited as much as anyone from the large turnout by winning the Sunday Warm-up.
Khan, who plays online as RaiNKhAN, outlasted 2,504 players to take down the first-place prize of $97,856. It’s one of Khan’s biggest scores since he danced his way to $956,243 for finishing sixth at the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event.
