Daniel Negreanu to face Brain Hastings in online match?

Daniel Negreanu wrote in his latest blog posting that he is considering playing Brian “$tinger 88″ Hastings in an online match worth $200,000.
According to his blog:
This guy Stinger, a guy I’ve played no limit hold’em with in the past said that he might be willing to play me a head up game for $100k in $100-$200 no limit hold’em, as well as a $100k freeze out in $500-$1000 HORSE. I’ve never seen him play HORSE before, but doubt that he’d be able to beat me at that game. Hold’em is a different story since it’s his “bread and butter” game.
ZeeJustin dishes on WSOP, Internet play

Since turning 21, former online phenom Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo has made 12 major final tables and taken home over $1,162,000 in tournament winnings. Among those players who haven’t won a major live tournament, he’s certainly one of the most consistent high finishers on the tournament circuit today.

U.K. blasts France for protectionist stance on gambling

Britain’s House of Lords called the French government’s actions to protect the state monopoly on gambling and poker “atrocious,” according to a story at pokerpages.com.
The European Union has been putting pressure on France and other member countries with state-run gambling ventures to fall in line with the rest of the EU and do away with protectionist laws on gambling.
According to the story:
Lord James of Blackheath pointed out that the punishment for a French national to place a bet with a British online bookmaker is one year in prison and a Euro 75,000 fine, the same punishment given paedophiles that download child porn. He then asked whether the British government was considering a similar law for French gambling firms operating in the UK to “restore a level playing field.”
Liv Boeree wins Ladbrokes ELC

Last weekend some of the top European ladies in the poker realm came together to play in the Ladbrokes European Ladies Championship.
In its third year, the ELC saw 51 female players head to London to partake in the event. At stake was a $100,000 prize pool guaranteed by Ladbrokes Poker and a top prize of $30,000.
Taking home that top prize this year was Liv Boeree. Originally from Kent, Boeree has a degree in physics with astrophysics from the University of Manchester.
Online gaming giants on list of Britain’s richest people

Some of the leaders of online gambling and poker in the United Kingdom are some of Britain’s richest people, according to a recent report at igamingbusiness.com.
The Sunday Times’ 20th annual survey of Britain’s richest individuals has revealed that the leading figures in the UK’s gaming industry are now worth almost ten billion dollars.
The highest ranked individual in the industry is 52-year-old Michael Spencer at number 62 on the ‘rich list’. Alongside personal holdings, his stakes in inter-dealer broker Icap and spreadbetting firm City Index have pushed his wealth to an estimated $2.27 billion from last year’s position of 88th with $1.59 billion.

‘Real World’ cast members to play tourney at Doyle’s Room

Doyle’s Room will be hosting a special tournament on Wednesday that will feature members of recent casts of “The Real World,” the MTV reality show:
Recent “Real World” stars Dave Sky and Will Gill (Season 20) and Parisa Montazaran (Season 19, “Real World: Sydney”), will appear in the Celebrity Bounty Poker Tournament; look for Montarazan as “TRWParisa” during the toruney. They’ll join the regular Wednesday night bounty event at Doyle’s Room that regularly features site namesake and poker legend Doyle Brunson, Mike “The Mad Genius of Poker” Caro, Hoyt Corkins and other famous pros.
Titan spreads cash en route to billionth hand

The race is on at Titan Poker to reach the billionth hand and for players to get a piece of the $350,000 in cash the poker site is giving away during milestone hands.
The countdown began when the 950 millionth hand was dealt last week and the players in the hand were awarded hundreds of dollars.
Now Titan Poker will be awarding cash during every 200,000th hand on its way to the one billionth. According to the poker site, players have a daily chance to hit a “winning hand” and claim their share of the cash.

Harrah’s held a conference call yesterday to discuss the coming change regarding the World Series of Poker main event, in which the final table will be delayed until November for the purposes of showing it almost live on television.
According to cardplayer.com:
The change was given the blessings of the WSOP Player Advisory Council (PAC), which counts as members Daniel Negreanu, Tom Schneider, Robert Williamson III, and Jennifer Harman.
