Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay Packers Favored Over Indianapolis Colts
August 23, 2010
Offensively, the starters for the Packers match up well with the starters of the Colts defense. The key of course will be the offensive front of Green Bay, against the defensive front of Indianapolis. The Packers allowed among the highest sacks per game last season, and will need to protect Rodgers better this year. At the same time, the Colts have one of the better pass-rush defenses in the NFL, among active defensive end like Dwight Freeney.
Look for the Packers to let Rodgers play a few series in this one, and if things continue to go as they have all preseason,
expect Rodgers to be productive. The Packers were pretty balanced on offense last week, with Brandon Jackson rushing for 80 yards on 11 carries with one touchdown.
The Colts offense against the Green Bay defense will present a match up between one of the best defenses in the NFL, against one of the best offenses in the NFL. The Packers have arguably the best secondary in all of football, and against Manning, they should get their stiffest test outside of their own in Rodgers, during the Preseason. Fortunately for the Packers, they get to go up against Rodgers in practice, which is a good preparation for Manning and company.
Indianapolis runs a lot of formations and Manning likes to call the plays as the game comes to him. However, Manning will likely be limited in this one, and Green Bay will see a lot of Painter.
