Fresh from its opening day demolition of Wigan Athletic away from home on the opening day of the season last Saturday, newly promoted Blackpool face a much tougher test tomorrow afternoon as the side travels to London to take on Arsenal.

Blackpool remains one of the favourites to be among the three teams relegated to the Championship come the end of the 2010/11 English Premier League season but briefly stood atop the table last weekend thanks to a four goals to none hammering of its Lancastrian rivals.

However, Arsenal is one of the English Premier League’s top sides and Blackpool will have to put in a stunning performance to have any hope of coming away from the Emirates Stadium with anything.

These two sides last met for an FA Cup match at Arsenal Stadium in 1999 with the home side running out winners by three goals to one. Blackpool was then in the third-tier of professional English soccer and would be relegated the following season to the lowest division while Arsenal would eventually finish a close second to Manchester United for the English premier League title.

The news just gets worse from here for fans of the Lancashire side as Bet365.com, WilliamHill.com and VictorChandler.com are going with odds of 18/1 on an away victory for Ian Holloway’s men followed by Betfair.com showing 22/1 and BetDaq.com and WBX.com with 23/1.

For its part, Arsenal kicked off its season with a late draw away to Liverpool and will be looking for a win to get its title challenge well and truly on its way. EuroSportBet.co.uk, ToteSport.com, WilliamHill.com and BetFred.com show the London side at odds of 1/7 to defeat Blackpool while SportingBet.com is listing 3/20 followed by Coral.co.uk and Bwin.com with 3/19.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea won on the opening day of the season and Arsenal will not want to fall too far behind the other contenders for the title this early on with manager Arsene Wenger eager to collect his first piece of silverware since 2005’s FA Cup.
