Bodog players find live-event success
January 27, 2008
Some of Bodog Poker‘s most prominent online players took on events at the Borgata Winter Open in Atlantic City as well as at the World Series of Poker Circuit at the Grand Casino in Tunica, Miss., and proved their game was just as good in the live tournament arena.
Jose “head2782″ Severino, Johnathan “UFPokerStar” Westra, Smith “nevertilt22″ Collins and Jose “papadelpoker” de la Guardia all saw some margin of success in live events at both locations. Severino was the most successful, raking in a $47,008 win in Event 8 of the Borgata Winter Open.
The $350 No-Limit Hold’em Modified Shootout event saw 550 entrants take seats at the poker table to fight over a $165,000 prize pool.
In the modified shootout format, rather than just the winner from each table moving on to the next level, the top three players from each table move on to a regular multi-table tournament for the second round.
The Bodog Poker player was able to make the necessary adjustments to his strategy for both rounds to end up in the winner’s circle. The Top 10 players in the event were:
PlaceNamePrize1st Jose Severino $47,008 2nd Van Tran $24,750 3rd Eliano Mesquita $12,787 4th Byard Lilley $11,137 5th Anthony Pasqua $9,487 6th Joshua Teitelbaum $7,837 7th Michael Jasman $6,187 8th Rodney Dannivan $4,538 9th John Matwey $3,301 10th Edward Py $2,145
Johnathan Westra was no slouch in Tunica either. While he didn’t pocket as much cheddar – $26,742 – he did take down a win at the World Series of Poker Circuit at the Grand Casino.
